Kirkpatrick Chapel is located at 81 Somerset Street, on the picturesque and elegant Old Queens area on Rutgers' College Avenue Campus in the heart of New Brunswick, New Jersey. Easily accessible by car, public transportation, or Rutgers campus bus, we welcome visitors anytime during normal operating hours, Monday through Friday. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Parking

Visitors may park in lots 1, 8, 11, 11a, and 13 starting 45 minutes prior to the scheduled performance time. Metered spaces on Somerset Street are also available.

Secondary parking is available in the public parking decks in downtown New Brunswick.

Convenient handicapped-accessible parking is located adjacent to the building on a first come, first served basis. Appropriate placards or license plates are required.

Rutgers faculty, staff, and students must follow all rules and regulations regarding lot assignments authorized by their particular permit. Parking regulations are in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Up-to-date rules and regulations are here.

From Route 18 North

  • Follow Route 18 North past the entrance for the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 1.
  • After the first traffic light (Paulus Blvd.), bear right to get into the local lanes (following signs for New Brunswick Exits).
  • Take the Albany Street/Route 27 South exit.
  • Turn right onto George Street.
  • Just past the train overpass, the chapel's driveway is through the black wrought-iron gates between George and Somerset streets.

From Route 18 South

  • Cross over the Raritan River via the John Lynch Memorial Bridge.
  • Take the first exit (George Street/Rutgers University, New Brunswick, Route 27).
  • Bear left as you travel to the top of the ramp, and at the traffic light proceed straight on George Street.
  • Turn right one block after the third traffic light (CAUTION: sharp turn through the black iron gates at the corner of Somerset and George streets).

From Route 1 North or South

  • Follow Route 1 to the “Route 18 North – New Brunswick” exit and follow our Route 18 North directions.

From the NJ Turnpike North & South

  •  Take Exit 9 (marked “New Brunswick”) off the Turnpike.
  •  Follow signs for “Route 18 North – New Brunswick” and follow our Route 18 North directions.

From the Garden State Parkway Southbound (from North Jersey)

  • Take Exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike south and follow our directions from the Turnpike above.

From the Garden State Parkway Northbound (from South Jersey)

  • Take Exit 127 for I-287 to the New Jersey Turnpike south.
  • Follow our directions from the New Jersey Turnpike.

From Route 27 North

  • Follow Route 27 into New Brunswick and turn left onto George Street.
  • Just past the train overpass, the chapel's driveway is through the black wrought-iron gates at the corner of George and Somerset streets.

From Route 27 South

  •  Follow Route 27 South across the river.
  •  Once in New Brunswick, take a right at the third light onto George Street.
  • Just past the train overpass, the chapel's driveway is through the black wrought-iron gates at the corner of George and Somerset streets.

From Interstate 287 North or South

  • Take Exit 9 (River Road-Bound Brook-Highland Park).
  • Proceed east on River Road approximately three miles (you will pass High Point Solutions Stadium on left).
  • At the second traffic light after the stadium/Landing Lane, make right onto Route 18 south and cross over the Raritan River via the John Lynch Memorial Bridge.
  • Take the first exit (George Street-Rutgers University, New Brunswick, Route 27).
  • Keep to the left as you travel to the top of the ramp, and at the traffic light proceed straight on George Street.
  • Turn right one block after the third traffic light (CAUTION: sharp turn through the black iron gates at the corner of Somerset and George streets).

By Public Transportation

By Train

  • NJ Transit services the New Brunswick station via the Northeast Corridor line.
  • Once in New Brunswick, take the stairs down to street level onto Somerset Street.
  • Cross Somerset Street, pass through the black iron gates and towards the chapel.

By Campus Bus

From Cook/Douglass

  • Take the EE bus (weekdays) or Weekend 1 bus (weekends) and get off at the NJ Transit train station.
  • Once at the train station, cross Somerset Street, pass through the black iron gates and towards the chapel.

From Livingston Campus

  • Take the LXc bus (weekdays) or Weekend 2 bus (weekends) and get off at Scott Hall (by the grease trucks).
  • Once at the train station, cross Somerset Street, pass through the black iron gates and towards the chapel.

From Busch Campus

  • Take the A bus (weekdays) or Weekend 2 bus (weekends) and get off at Scott Hall (by the grease trucks).
  • Cross Hamilton Street and head through the trees to the chapel.
