Stained Glass Windows

Many of the stunning windows in Kirkpatrick Chapel were donated as class gifts around the turn of the 20th century. Four of them were crafted by the famed Louis C. Tiffany Studios.

Some classes included inscriptions in the glass that represented their class or their times. One window, depicting the signing of the Old Queen's charter in 1766, is an iconic Rutgers image.

Another was gifted by the Tiffany Studios in memory of a tragic event. Henry Janeway Weston, a second-year Rutgers student, committed suicide in 1898. He was the grandson of Henry L. Janeway, a millionaire wallpaper manufacturer and Rutgers trustee from 1862 to 1909.

The windows are beautiful visual markers of Rutgers history.
