Kirkpatrick Chapel is used for events of all faiths.  For non-Christan based events the chapel's cross can be removed and the large window, “Jesus, the Teacher of the Ages” can be easily and tastefully covered with its built in screen.

 

The fee for renting Kirkpatrick chapel for a Baptism/Christening is $300. A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required upon booking.

The Chapel can be booked for Baptism events on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.  The chapel books events in hour and a half time slots during the following hours:

  • Fridays
    • 5:00pm - 6:30pm (5:30pm ceremony start time)

      OR

    • 5:30pm - 7:00pm (6:00pm ceremony start time)
     
  • Saturdays and Sundays
  • 10:00am - 11:30am (10:30am ceremony start time)
  • 12:00pm - 1:30pm (12:30pm ceremony start time)
  • 2:00pm - 3:30pm (2:30pm ceremony start time)
  • 4:00pm - 5:30pm (4:30pm ceremony start time)
  • 6:00pm - 7:30pm (6:30pm ceremony start time)

 

Steps for booking your Baptism at Kirkpatrick Chapel:

Check with the chapel's office during business hours 9:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday to confirm that the time and date you would like is available.  Kirkpatrick Chapel Office: (732) 932-7808

    1. Confirm that the officiant you would like to have conduct your service is available.  (The Kirkpatrick Chapel does not have an officiant on staff to conduct services, it is the renter's responsibility to secure an officiant.)
    2. Make an appointment with our office to meet with Patrick Cogan, Operations Manager.  You will need to come in and sign the rental contract and leave the $150 deposit.
     

Other Services Offered:

The Chapel's organ can be used for services; however, the university organist is the only person allowed to perform on this delicate instrument.  The chapel office can give you more information on hiring the organist for your event.

    • The venue's piano can be used by anyone in conjunction with your event.  If you decide to hire your own pianist, there is a $100 piano useage fee and a $100 tuning fee (if you would like to have it tuned).  If you hire a pianist from the Rutgers Concert Bureau there is no charge for using the piano (artists fees still apply).
    • The Chapel's two large candle holders can be rented for $35 each.  Each candle holder is approximately five feet tall and solid brass, holding seven white candles each.  The Chapel provides candles, and will light them for your ceremony if you decide to rent them.  They are a great addition to the already beautiful surroundings.
